File Copy willsearch for a file with the rightname, and check that the headerand data content match the fileloaded. If O.K. is outputfollowing the header, the filehas been saved correctly.
1 File Copy returns control tothe BASIC system. It may bere-entered by CONTINUE, unlessCLEAR has been used. In thiscase, enter RANDOMIZE USR 16384. To save space, File Copyitself occupies the top third ofthe screen map, and may failunpredictably if you print thereor clear the screen.
1 The tape is scanned as forthe LIST command, but the listis output to the ZX-Printer ifattatched. This can be a useful way ofproducing index cards for yourtapes, or finding out what is ona tape without scrolling thescreen.
1 The file quoted, or the nexton the tape, is loaded into workspace, but files already loadedare not overwritten. By thismeans, several files can beloaded without changing tapes,if there is enough store. Merged files are saved orverified in a single operationin the order they were loaded.
1 Sometimes a file will fail toload due to insufficient store. The maximum possible store ismade available by this command, which deletes this BASIC program(including these instructions)and the user graphics area. Any files currently loadedare also lost.
1 The tape is scanned and theheader information for each filefound is output. To stop the listing, or whenthe end of tape is reached, press
1 The next file on the tape isloaded, and File Copy waits foryou to change the tape. Load anoutput tape and switch to RECORDbefore pressing any key.
